Clear glowing skin

Wednesday 14 June 2017
I have always struggled with acne since I was around 12 and over the years although it has gotten better I have learnt how to look after my skin. I often notice when I do something out of my normal routine as my face will break out and I will feel like I am 14 again. As I have gotten older I have also learnt how important it is to look after your skin.

1.     Drink more water.
This is so important often we don’t monitor how much water we drink, which often means we don’t drink enough. It’s important to get 8 glasses a day, it also important to cut back on sugar drinks and soda as they are often the reason we break out.

2.     Cleanse morning and night
I didn’t realise how important this one was until I started cleansing my face both morning and night. I started to notice just how much clearer my skin was but not only how much clearer but also brighter and softer. I am also someone who get dark under eyes and cleansing morning and night I have found helps with that.

3.     Take off makeup
I know, it is such a drag. There have been many times I don’t feel like taking my make up off. I work night shift as well so often when I get home I just want to go straight to sleep, however, if I don’t take my make-up I can expect at least three new spots when I wake up which is never a good thing. While taking my make up off will always feel like a chore, I keep make-up wipes next to my bed so for those nights where I really can’t be bothered cleansing and taking my make up off properly I am still ensuring most of my make-up is off and my skin can breathe

4.     Monitor stress levels
When I am stressed I break out, there is no other way to put it. My skin reacts to how I am feeling on the inside so it is important to acknowledge when you are stressed and take the appropriate actions against it. For me; it’s knowing that every Monday morning after I have been to the gym that I can get Starbucks (my naughty treat for the week) and sit by the beach, for you; it might be eating popcorn and watching Netflix. Whatever it may be, remember to set aside time for yourself when you are stressed.

5.     Watch the food you put in your body
If I eat crap my skin looks like crap there is no way around it. If I eat sugary foods or those high in fat my skin will let me know that I haven’t been eating right and it will break out. Therefore, I have learnt to watch what I eat but also giving myself a little treat every now and again because it is about balance and we can’t always be perfect.

What are your skincare tips? Do you agree with mine?

My Three Favourite Blogs

Wednesday 24 May 2017
I love blogging and I love reading other peoples blogs. I go through phases of what kind of blogs I like and read however these are my current three favourites that I am in love with.

1. Nerd About Town
I started reading Stephanies blog probably around 8 months ago. I have loved it ever since, she posts about everything from confidence to fashion and beauty. Stephanie is one of the many bloggers I aspire to be like. She is beautiful and the honesty in her posts is appreciated. She speaks the truth about her own vulnerablilities and honestly she has been a huge motiviation for me to keep blogging and has helped massively with my personal confidence.

2. Life as Lois May
I feel like Lois Mays' blog and mine are similiar in many ways. we blog about similiar things and we are also both students the only massive difference is the fact that her flatlays are significantly better than mine. Lois May is relatable and definitely one of those people that seem truelly genuine.

3. Poppy Deyes
I feel like I couldn't write this list without adding Poppy to the mix. I have no doubt that you have probably come across Poppy's blog. She's definitely one of the bigger bloggers out there and for a very obvious reason her content is intereting, relatable and her flatlays are beautiful.

I obviously could've added another ten bloggers easily to this list however I wanted to keep this one short and sweet.

Do you want to know more of my favourite bloggers? Do you love any of these bloggers as much as I do?

Skincare Tips

Sunday 19 March 2017
Skincare is something that is important and it should be. Today I share with you, my top skincare tips to have glowing, healthy skin.

1. Have a skincare routine and stick to it.
I have a skincare routine that I stick to morning and night. They are both different but equally important. It's important that I have one both in the morning at night because I wear makeup almost every day thus it is important to both prepare my skin when I am putting it on and making sure it is all off when I go to bed each night.

2. It isn't just about your face, your neck, shoulders, elbows and the rest of your body matters too!
Skincare isn't just about taking care of your face, it's also about the rest of your body. It's about shaving/waxing your underarms legs on the regular (If you do at all) not waiting for it to get crazy long, and moisturizing your legs, putting ointment on scars and everything in between skincare is about all of your skin not just your face.

3. Protect your skin ALWAYS.
Always wear sunscreen. I admit that I am not one that does this every day because I have oily skin and don't like how the two react, however, I am on the hunt for a face sunscreen that I can wear every day that will not cause me to breakout so leave your suggestions in the comments below!

4.  Stop eating processed sugar.
Sugar makes you feel gross and breaks out skin, try and reduce the amount of processed sugars you eat and as a result; your body and skin will thank you for it.

5. Dab don't push.
Don't push your skin in all sorts of ways in order to rub in creams. Be soft and lightly dab on creams and lotions or whatever else you put on your skin. This will ensure you don't get premature wrinkles

6. Drink water.
It's good for you and good for your skin.

January & February 2017 Favourites

Wednesday 8 March 2017

1. Passion Planner
I am a planning and organizing obsessive! I bought this planner at the end of December and it arrived pretty quickly, which I was very impressed by. I have tried out different ways of using the planner and have found a prefered way, although it has taken sometimes I did like each way i have used it although I wanted it to look pretty as well. I love the passion planner both because of the design of the planner and because of the philosophy behind the planner. Go check out their website ad if you love the look of the planner as much as I do if you use the discount code: 'love10' you can get 10% off.

2. Apple Watch
I got an apple watch for Christmas, and have started to use it quite a bit I love all the features on it, particularly the fitness apps as they help to keep those new year resolutions on track. Although the better life could be improved it does the job. I also love the fact that I can answer phone calls on it as it is super handy when I am driving to and from Auckland and don't really want to pull over to answer a phone call. Yay, for handsfree!

3. ZA Mascara
This has become my new go to mascara it gives your lashes volume and length which is super hard to find in a good mascara. This is now my daily mascara and I am in love with it.

4. Duolingo website
This website has been awesome in helping me learn a new language, I have admiralty slipped in practising a new language because I have been so busy although this website has been awesome and there is also an app that I have downloaded on my phone although I am yet to check that out i am yet to use it.

5. Dove Shampoo
I have never liked a shampoo so much. I have oily but frizzy hair, fun combo i know. My hair always looks crap unless I have used heating tools which his extremely annoying. However, with the Dove shampoo I am still washing it every second day however it looks shiny and healthy and the frizz is a lot less. honestly, this is the best shampoo I have ever used and I have even purchased a second bottle which I need do with shampoo

Everyday Make Up Favourites

Wednesday 15 February 2017

I have my favourites that i write every month or bimonthly but I don't really show you the products that I use everyday that I love at some point or another I am sure I have had these things in a favourites post but I wanted to write this post to tell you in a little more detail.

1. Nutrimetics Blushing Palette
I have tried to downsize my make up considerably for multiple reasons. I love this palette because it has a highlight, counter and blush colour which is amazing and I also love the colours in it, the tones of the contour is beautiful and I am obsessed with it. When I am also travelling and don't want to take to much make up or beauty products with me I use this on my eyes as well. I pop the contour shade on my crease and lid and the highlight shade in my inner corner.

2. Elizabeth Arden Brush
I love this brush and I use it for so many things. I apply my foundation and counter with real techniques brushes, which I have mentioned before, however the Elizabeth Arden brush is awesome to apply blush, highlight, bronzer and everything in between.

3. Za Perfect Action Smudgeproof Mascara
I have tried so many mascaras! I have used different Chanel, Elizabeth Arden, Maybelline, and so many others however I have never liked one like I love this one. I have naturally pretty short lashes and I am going to be cfmepleyey honest I am pretty sure my lashes have grown since using it, I have never though I would like a mascara but i do. I don't know if my lashes have really grown or I have just convinced myself that they have but this mascara is truly amazing!

4. Nutrimetics Glimmer Stick Shadow
I use this eyeshadow stick in my everyday make up routine like all of these products however this one is easy to use, although it can be hard to blend it won't come off during the day and it looks like you have put in a lot more effort when you wear this shadow.

What are your favourite everyday make up products? Do you use any of these products?

New Year, Same Me, New Goals 2017

Saturday 31 December 2016

I never considered myself to be somebody that would set new years resolutions because I firmly believe that if you want to achieve something that you shouldn't have to wait for the 1st of January to be able to do it. I believed and still believe that if you want to achieve it, you should just go out and do it. However, with saying that I have set new goals for 2017. They may not be ones that are measurable or achievable but who isn't up for a challenge. I have set nine goals/ challenges for myself to achieve in 2017, follow me if you want to follow my journey in 2017.

1. Blog
I want to grow my blog and make it something that I am proud of. Don't get me wrong I am proud of it now but I want to be able to dedicate time every week to making this place of the internet an accurate representation of who I am as a person. I want my blog to be a digital version of myself. The digital version representing both the pain and the joy I have through the year, I want to share my deepest insecurities, my happiest moments, the goals I achieve, memories iImake. I want you to see who I really am!

2. Health and Fitness
As I said on blogmas day 23 health and fitness is something I definitely want to improve on. I want to be as fit as I was three years ago, I want to do yoga and go for runs as I use to. I want my outlook on food to change, I want it to nourish my body. One of my main goals for 2017 is to cut out most sugar, and to pretty much cut out food that isn't going to nourish me that means post-hangover pizza and burgers.

3. Fear.
This is something I struggle with, always have probably always will. While I can blame it on several mental illness and events in my past ultimately I have decided not to, it's something I can and want to change. My fear of the unknown and my fear of things like heights are completely different thus I am going to put them as separate points. My goal for this year is to do one thing a month, 12 in total that scares the crap out of me. This may be bungee jumping or skydiving. However, scare me? It will. Conquer?  Well, we will have to see about that one.

4. Unknown.
The unknown is my biggest fear. It has changed how I see and react to different events. I have had this fear for a few years. I have a fear of not knowing if you're  going to fall in love, or get your heart broken whether you're going to have that first kiss or it will be a disaster it is all terrifying. However that is something I want to overcome I want to be excited by the unknown I want to be excited to think I could fall in love or get my dream job or whatever it may be because it the end of the day as a friend put it; if it is meant to be it will be. Sometimes we have to just do things and not overthink things, which I have a history of doing, I'm a self-confessed control freak and that is definitely something that I want to let go of.

5. My past.
This is a big one for me, a lot of things that have happened in my past I talk about to very few people. I feel vulnerable and open when I talk about these things and that is something nobody like to feel, however, the events that have occurred in my life have also happened to a lot of other people as well and in 2017 I want to be able to embrace my past and to help others with my story and my experience. There is probably less than 20 people that know what happened and even less know the effects and what I know have to deal with because of it, but so many people go through the same thing and don't have a way out or don't see a way out. I have found a way to be myself again and that is something that I have so many people to thank for.

6. My Faith.
This is a big one my faith is something I struggled with for a long time. When I was younger (4 or 5) I would go to Sunday School and I also went to a private Christian School for two years (Some of my friends a couple of years ago couldn't believe it, I'm not exactly a type A Christian) however growing up I saw a lot and experienced even more and that definitely changed my outlook on my faith and God. I lost respect for him however over the last year I have, started finding my faith again and have definitely experienced some amazing things. In 2017 I want to explore my faith more and what being a Christian means to me.

7. Acceptance.
I am not perfect nobody is, however, I want to learn to accept myself and be nicer to myself. Yes, I have acne, freckles, scars and so much more but at the end of the day, they have come with me through every experience some experiences causing scars whether they are visible or not. I am who I am and I need to learn to love myself, and who I am just as much as the next person.

8. Anxiety and Mental Health.
This year I have made so much progress with my anxiety which of course is amazing, however, over the next year, I want to be able to say that anxiety is something that no longer affects my day to day life. I don't want to be scared of having a panic attack in the middle of the supermarket (which yes has happened this year and it was not a good time).

9. Getting my sh*t together.
I hate when there are no plans, hence, why I am a self, confessed control freak. In 2017 I want to get my sh*t together both in my personal life, as school and professionally. By personally I don't mean getting into a relationship, I mean seeing my friends and family more and making time for the people in my life that have been there for me and supported me, if that happens to mean I meet someone amazing and fall in love so be it, although it isn't something that I will be actively seeking out (although you can apply below, I am joking). School, this year started off great I got pretty decent grades although the second semester well lets just say that didn't go so well, I also had a lot more going on and was travelling to Whangarei every week for therapy, however, my time in between that wasn't thought out very well, thus this year I have a goal to attend all my tutorials. Yes, every single one. I am aware that there may be events that cause m to not be able to make it but there is always an exception to the rule although a hangover is not one! Improving my grades is something that is extremely important to me and a goal I definitely want to achieve in the new year. Professionally, by this I mean my blog and well you can just go and see number 1 for this.

What are your new year resolutions? What do you want to see from me?

Five Everyday Make Up Products I’m Currently Loving // November 2016 | Beauty

Wednesday 30 November 2016

I thought that I would share with all of you some of my favourite make up products that I use every day. I have a lot of Make Up that I love and tend to only buy make up that I am in love with, but these are the ones that I use every day and are a part of my staple look.

Chanel CC Cream Correction Complete  – I bought this CC Cream before I went overseas earlier this year. I wanted something that was going to be moisturizing and felt really light on my skin. I honestly didn’t think this was going to turn into a product that I would start to use every day, mainly because I didn’t believe this product wouldn’t be worth the price (I was proven wrong). The amount of coverage is also pretty impressive, which I wasn’t expecting but am really pleased about because my face has a tendency to break out.

Chanel Stylo Eyeshadow 157 Beige Doré  – I love this eye shadow, the main reason being that it takes 30 seconds to put it on, meaning my makeup routine doesn’t take as long. The staying power of this eye shadow is also somewhat impressive and can last really long days. My longest day starts at 7am and finishes around 1 am, and it lasts intact the entire day. If you would like a blog post on how I use this eye shadow comment below. (This eye shadow is limited edition and has sold out in this colour)

ColourPop Ultra Matte LAX  – This was a rush purchase and I definitely didn’t know that it would become a favorite of mine. I have always been and probably always will be a staple lip kind of girl and this definitely achieves that look. It also has a really nice formula.
