New Year, Same Me, New Goals // December 2016 | Life

I never considered myself to be somebody that would set new years resolutions because I firmly believe that if you want to achieve something that you shouldn't have to wait for the 1st of January to be able to do it. I believed and still believe that if you want to achieve it, you should just go out and do it. However, with saying that I have set new goals for 2017. They may not be ones that are measurable or achievable but who isn't up for a challenge. I have set nine goals/ challenges for myself to achieve in 2017, follow me if you want to follow my journey in 2017.

1. Blog
I want to grow my blog and make it something that I am proud of. Don't get me wrong I am proud of it now but I want to be able to dedicate time every week to making this place of the internet an accurate representation of who I am as a person. I want my blog to be a digital version of myself. The digital version representing both the pain and the joy I have through the year, I want to share my deepest insecurities, my happiest moments, the goals I achieve, memories iImake. I want you to see who I really am!

2. Health and Fitness
As I said on blogmas day 23 health and fitness is something I definitely want to improve on. I want to be as fit as I was three years ago, I want to do yoga and go for runs as I use to. I want my outlook on food to change, I want it to nourish my body. One of my main goals for 2017 is to cut out most sugar, and to pretty much cut out food that isn't going to nourish me that means post-hangover pizza and burgers.

3. Fear.
This is something I struggle with, always have probably always will. While I can blame it on several mental illness and events in my past ultimately I have decided not to, it's something I can and want to change. My fear of the unknown and my fear of things like heights are completely different thus I am going to put them as separate points. My goal for this year is to do one thing a month, 12 in total that scares the crap out of me. This may be bungee jumping or skydiving. However, scare me? It will. Conquer?  Well, we will have to see about that one.

4. Unknown.
The unknown is my biggest fear. It has changed how I see and react to different events. I have had this fear for a few years. I have a fear of not knowing if you're  going to fall in love, or get your heart broken whether you're going to have that first kiss or it will be a disaster it is all terrifying. However that is something I want to overcome I want to be excited by the unknown I want to be excited to think I could fall in love or get my dream job or whatever it may be because it the end of the day as a friend put it; if it is meant to be it will be. Sometimes we have to just do things and not overthink things, which I have a history of doing, I'm a self-confessed control freak and that is definitely something that I want to let go of.

5. My past.
This is a big one for me, a lot of things that have happened in my past I talk about to very few people. I feel vulnerable and open when I talk about these things and that is something nobody like to feel, however, the events that have occurred in my life have also happened to a lot of other people as well and in 2017 I want to be able to embrace my past and to help others with my story and my experience. There is probably less than 20 people that know what happened and even less know the effects and what I know have to deal with because of it, but so many people go through the same thing and don't have a way out or don't see a way out. I have found a way to be myself again and that is something that I have so many people to thank for.

6. My Faith.
This is a big one my faith is something I struggled with for a long time. When I was younger (4 or 5) I would go to Sunday School and I also went to a private Christian School for two years (Some of my friends a couple of years ago couldn't believe it, I'm not exactly a type A Christian) however growing up I saw a lot and experienced even more and that definitely changed my outlook on my faith and God. I lost respect for him however over the last year I have, started finding my faith again and have definitely experienced some amazing things. In 2017 I want to explore my faith more and what being a Christian means to me.

7. Acceptance.
I am not perfect nobody is, however, I want to learn to accept myself and be nicer to myself. Yes, I have acne, freckles, scars and so much more but at the end of the day, they have come with me through every experience some experiences causing scars whether they are visible or not. I am who I am and I need to learn to love myself, and who I am just as much as the next person.

8. Anxiety and Mental Health.
This year I have made so much progress with my anxiety which of course is amazing, however, over the next year, I want to be able to say that anxiety is something that no longer affects my day to day life. I don't want to be scared of having a panic attack in the middle of the supermarket (which yes has happened this year and it was not a good time).

9. Getting my sh*t together.
I hate when there are no plans, hence, why I am a self, confessed control freak. In 2017 I want to get my sh*t together both in my personal life, as school and professionally. By personally I don't mean getting into a relationship, I mean seeing my friends and family more and making time for the people in my life that have been there for me and supported me, if that happens to mean I meet someone amazing and fall in love so be it, although it isn't something that I will be actively seeking out (although you can apply below, I am joking). School, this year started off great I got pretty decent grades although the second semester well lets just say that didn't go so well, I also had a lot more going on and was travelling to Whangarei every week for therapy, however, my time in between that wasn't thought out very well, thus this year I have a goal to attend all my tutorials. Yes, every single one. I am aware that there may be events that cause m to not be able to make it but there is always an exception to the rule although a hangover is not one! Improving my grades is something that is extremely important to me and a goal I definitely want to achieve in the new year. Professionally, by this I mean my blog and well you can just go and see number 1 for this.

What are your new year resolutions? What do you want to see from me?

Christmas Eve // December 2016 | Blogmas Day 24

This is just going to be a short post as it's almost midnight on Christmas Eve and I am going to be completely honest I almost forgot to write this post. Last night I stayed at my parents then came home this afternoon then went straight back to my parents because I forgot to pick up the damn chicken for my sister to cook for tomorrow! I was not impressed!

Today has been very festive. I have baked Christmas mince pies, gingerbread men (which turned put, interestingly), watched two Christmas movies and listened to Christmas music. I have also done some non-festive things like shaved my legs, fake tanned, popped on a face mask and put on some acne spot treatment.

I am not going to lie my festive spirit wasn't totally there this morning then I got home and was like crap it's Christmas tomorrow, but I don't think that has really sunk in yet.

Tomorrow I have to empty my stuff out of my car and hang out some washing, also have some dishes to finish off before I cook breakfast for myself, my sister and her partner. Then it'll be showering and getting ready as well as loading all the presents into my car. I am the designated driver tomorrow because I have decided to stay sober.

I am off to finish watching my favourite vlogmas videos then I am off to sleep to get up early tomorrow.

What have you got up to this Christmas Eve?

What's Coming in 2017 // December 2016 | Blogmas Day 23

This blog post isn't Christmas related but it is something I want to talk about this month, therefore I thought I would include it as a blog post.

A big question I have asked myself is where do I want to head, redesigning and changing the name of my blog was a big part of making my blog more for me. It's about creating a creative online place version of myself, my goals and the things I love. 2017 I want to focus on Beauty, Fitness, Travel, and Food. I want to learn to love myself and be whole in 2017. 2017 will be my year!

Beauty.
I want to share my favourite make up, and beauty with you. Whether that be products to different looks.

Fitness.
My fitness is something that used to be very important to me however as we all have struggles I did too and my fitness is something that definitely got lost during that time. In 2017 I want to share with you, my journey on getting healthy and exercising. I want to share my success and failures, pulled muscles and bruises, the good and the bad of getting fit again.

Travel.
I want to share with you, my biggest travel tips and regrets as well as what I have planned for my future travels and all that is in between. I also want to share with you, my favourite places in New Zealand and why I love them so much.

Food.
Not Vanilla cupcakes with amazing frosting and biscuits, but I want to share with you cheap, healthy, easy meals that are good for your soul. I want to share with you recipes that inspire me, that make me feel good on the inside and out. I want to grow food, make real food and inspire you to do the same.

What are things you want to focus on in 2017? Do you want to change the way you see food and fitness?

Ugly Christmas Sweater // December 2016 | Blogmas Day 22

There is nothing like a good old ugly Christmas sweater, even if it is 30C heat. These are my top picks for ugly Christmas sweaters this year.

1.  Rudolph Nose Pom
This one I feel is a little more traditional than the others except for number two. Personally think this is the kind I imagine my year 5 teacher would wear at this time of the year.

2. Ugly Christmas Cardigan
Technically this isn't a Christmas Sweater and is a cardigan but it still has that traditional ugly Christmas sweater pattern, so obviously I have to include it.

3. Under The Mistletoe
This one is just really cute, and a little more modern than the last two am definitely a fan of this one although I won't be kissing anyone under the mistletoe this year.

4. PomPom
This one although doesn't scream Christmas the pompoms are a nice subtle Christmas vibe. Probably my favourite of these ones.

What are your favourite Christmas Jumpers this year? Do you like or have any of these?

Under the weather at Christmas // December 2016 | Blogmas Day 21

I have been feeling a little under the weather dude to various different things, but nonetheless I though I would share with you my top tips on getting better this Christmas.

1. Stay hydrated.
It is always important to stay hydrated even when you are feeling ill, so make sure you are getting plenty of fluid.

2. Strepsils.
My throats is killing me right this minute and all I can think about is how when the shapes open the first thing i am going to so is go and buy some strepsils.

3. Blueberries.
Okay any fruit is good for you but blueberries are extra amazing with all the goodness and nutrients inside them.

4. Rest.
At this time of the year it is easy to get so busy that you forget to take a moment to yourself and have a rest, whether that's just sitting down and watching a movie or having a well deserved nap.

5. Tea.
I mean do I need to say anything else! I love tea and is great for when you are ill whether its just a ordinary cup of tea to make you feel warm or a green tea to help your insides.

What are your tips to staying well? What do you do when you get ill?

Christmas Pamper Products // December 2016 | Blogmas Day 19 & 20

Here are my favourite beauty products to pamper yourself with during the christmas season. I have been feeling a little under the weather the last couple of days so I have decided to combine this post, if I feel better soon I will definitely give you another blog post. I am feeling like a little pamper session now because I am ill so I though I would share with you some of my must have items for a pamper session.

1. Lush Bath Bomb
I feel like this is a requirement, and doesn't need too much more explaining. Lush is one of those things that you literally can not go wrong.

2. Formula 10.0.6 Skin Clarifying Mud Mask.
Although this isn't christmas themed this mask is perfect for a pamper and one that I always have in my cupboard if I want a proper pamper, although if I am in a rush I will just grab a sheet mask as there is little to no mess and its so much faster, although I don't think it is as nourishing as this mud mask.

3. Garner Micellar Water in Oil.
I really like this product and have used a whole bottle of the Micellar water without the oil and it makes my skin feel good, and me feel good for having a skincare routine. Even if I am running out of time I pop this on my face whether I am applying make up to my face or not because it makes my skin feel so clean and clear.

4. Elizabeth Arden All Gone Eye And Lip Makeup Remover.
This is such a lovely make up remover and it gets rid of make up like I have never seen before it also doesn't leave my skin feeling oily and gross which is always a bonus.

Do you love any of these products? Will you be giving any of these products ago for a Pamper session?

Fitness at Christmas // December 2016 | Blogmas Day 18

I am going to be completely honest and say the last two years my fitness has dropped dramatically. I used to be quite fit and I loved the outdoors however over the last two years I have stopped exercising and going outdoors which is definitely something that I want to change in the new year, however I also am a firm believer that if you want to do something to just do it and you shouldn't have to wait for a new year in order to achieve your goal! This means that I have started a sort-of fitness routine this month. Here are my three top tips for working out at this time of the year.

1. Go for a walk, with friends or family.
Especially if you are pushed for time, going for a walk with friends or family is a great way to stay fit and you get two things done at once. Having family time is important as is keeping fit, therefore combine the two and you save time while having an awesome time. My sister and I have been going for a walk every couple of days and I feel amazing after and it is always good to spend quality time with my sister.

2. Pilates or Yoga.
This is something that is awesome for the morning, I used to love doing pilates nd yoga in the morning. It is also something that I want to start doing again next year. My favourite Pilate work out in the morning is the Blogilates Pilate work outs.

3. Swimming.
In New Zealand at the moment it is amazingly sunny which makes sense because it is summer. Going for a swim whether it is at the beach, a private pool, or public swimming pool swimming is a great way to get some exercise and who doesn't want a swim in this weather?

What are your favourite ways to keep fit at this time of the year? Do you love doing any of these activities?

Christmas Mugs // December 2016 | Blogmas Day 17

For the last hour, I have been sitting at my laptop at the kitchen bench writing blog posts, replying to emails and just doing general blog admin stuff. I was thinking of blogmas posts to write in advance that are easy and didn't take out to much time because I have a pretty busy week ahead of me and I couldn't think of anything sipping away at my cup of tea in my sexy mug, I though why not Christmas mugs. Here are my top choices of Christmas mugs that are on sale this year.

If you want over the top, tacky, absolutely ridiculous Chrismtas mug this is the one for you. I am in love.

This is the perfect classy, traditional mug.

I love this mug it is the perfect mix of adorable and classy.

This mug is adorable and sweet, it also has a more traditional shape to it in comparison to the other mugs.

Do you have a favourite Christmas mug? What are you sipping out if this year?

Christmas Day Morning Routine // December 2016 | Blogmas Day 15

I love Christmas Morning it's potentially my favorite time of Christmas day. This is my Christmas Morning Routine:

7am Get up.
Getting up at 7am is easy on Christmas day because it's Christmas. This year I will be showering then putting my pajamas back on and cooking my sister and her partner breakfast. I'm making crepes and hot chocolates for Breakfast this year with a selection of sweet and savory toppings.

8am Dressed, make-up, hair.
The next hour I will spend giving myself a face mask, doing my hair, putting on make-up and getting dressed. It's Christmas day and there is plenty of time in the day so there is no need to rush. Use this time to relax and take your time getting ready, I know I will be.

9am Chores.
Even on Christmas day, this can't be avoided. The next 20minutes I spend doing the dishes from breakfast, making my bed and all those other fun things that can't be avoided even onChristmas.

9:20am Blog.
Just because it's Christmas day doesn't mean I won't be blogging it will be my last day of blogmas (yes, I am doing the full 25 days)

10am Load the car
At this time we will be filling the car with all the gifts and going to my parents for christmas.

What will you be doing Christmas Morning? Is your Christmas morning routine?

Christmas Traditions // December 2016 | Blogmas Day 14

Christmas traditions although they aren't something the is still relevant in my family as we have all grown up we had some as children and there are other I definitely want to have with my children (that is if I have children).

Christmas Eve.
When my sister and I were younger we would go to sleep pretty early because everyone knows the early you sleep the faster Santa will arrive. Yes, I now know that isn't actually the case but nonetheless it was still something that happened.
This year however I don't live with my parents, instead i am flatting with my sister. My intentions this year and for many more to come are to get a new pair of Christmas pyjamas make hot chocolate sit in bed and watch Christmas movies till 2am. This is something I want to do with my future children as well although with them it will be a Christmas book and definitely not till 2am.

Christmas Day.
As kids, my father milked cows which would mean he would get up early to go to milk them and he wouldn't get back till around 9-10am. Being children my sister and I got up at 6am so the whole waiting till 9-10am for him to get home really didn't sit well which typically meant that every year we would be able to choose one present from Santa to open before he got home. My sister and my restlessness must have paid off because this became somewhat of a tradition. However as we got older and as traditions change, I would get up at 4am or whatever time it was to go and help milk the cows. I'm not crazy I had a plan behind me because I got up early Christmas morning anyway and the sooner the cows are milked the sooner we get to open presents so really it is a win-win all round.
This year there will be new traditions, for the last four years my sister hasn't lived at home but I have so she would come over in the morning and celebrate Christmas with us however this year I am flatting with my sister for the summer and therefore my sister, her partner and myself will be going over to my parents. My sisters partners family will also be joining us there and it will be a smaller than usual Christmas but I am sure it is still going to be a lovely Christmas.

Boxing Day and the day after.
In our family we have never been ones to go boxing day shopping, more the day after boxing day shoppers. The sales are still on and there are a lot less people thus less havoc. This means that boxing day is typically a clean up after Christmas kind of day, which although boring is productive. The day after we typically would then go to Auckland to go shopping and every year we would get a new pillow in the boxing day sales a small tradition I know but trust me every year We would look forward to our new pillow.

There on after.
After that the packing of the tree begins and I start planning next years Christmas. I am both a Christmas and planning obsessive thus, this is only a natural reaction. I also like to write a letter to myself to open the same time the next year. In the letter I will have goals, dreams, where I see myself and anything else I can think of. I also read the previous years in order to remind myself how far i have come. This year I am posting my 'New Year, Same Me' blog post on the 28th of December then I will be taking a break from blogging until the 6th of January where I will continue my normal blog schedule of Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.

This post was a collaboration with Hannah, from Surviving Medicine you can check out her Christmas Traditions here.

What are your Christmas Traditions? Are you starting any new traditions this year?

Pinterest Inspired Christmas Finger Food // December 2016 | Blogmas Day 13

I have tried out and love these cute treats, however, my camera battery died and I am going to keep it real I don't know where the charger is.

1. Strawberry Santa
I made these adorable little guys with frosting and chocolate chips for their eyes.

2. Brownie Christmas Tree
These seem to be everywhere online this Christmas. I have made them a few times the first time I put the candy cane as, the trunk and being summer here it did go a little gross and the brownie just tasted of candy cane. The times after that I have made them though they have gone down a treat and are well loved. I have also added crushed candy cane to the top of mine.

3. Brownie Christmas Puddings.
This was hard to find an image of while the link to this one won't give you the recipe I used it is still a great alternative. I used the off cuts from the triangle brownies and mixed that with vanilla frosting to make the balls. I decorated them with vanilla frosting and crushed candy canes similar to this picture.

Are you obsessed with Christmas baking like me? What's your favourite Christmas treat?

Summer Morning Routine // December 2016 | Blogmas Day 10

Routine is incredibly important to me as it keeps me constantly busy and also helps when I start to get depressed.

6am Workout.
Okay, so this is more of an intention and something that I am getting too. I do love however working out in the morning whether it is going for a walk or a HIIT workout.

7am Shower, dressed and Make up
I then have a quick shower and do my make up this can take anywhere from 20 minutes to 40 minutes. I plan my clothes the evening before so that I don't have to worry about it the next day.

7:30am Make Lunch
I try and make my lunch the day before but that doesn't always happen, although it usually only takes 10-15minutes, so it's not really abiggy.

7:45am Food.
Breakfast is extremely important and I'm going to be completely honest, I don't always eat breakfast but I do try and have something healthy and nutritious. Throughout the morning I also try and drink a litre of water.

8am Chores
The next half hour I will hang out washing, make my bed, dishes and all that other boring stuff

8:35am Advent Time!
That great December tradition of opening up my advent calendars which is, of course, the best part of my morning.

8:40am Leave for work.
Enough Said.

What is your morning routine? Does it change each season?

1. Beats by Dr. Dre Solo2 Wireless On-Ear Headphones, $125.99. These are gorgeous headphones, I can't wear earbuds for too long however these are really comfortable and keep out the sound a lot better than earbuds. This is the perfect gift for someone who travels a lot or any teenager that loves music.

2. Crosley X UO Portable Vinyl FRecord Player, $169. Vinyl players are again becoming a lot more common and the music they produce sounds so much better. I think this is the perfect gift for anyone of all ages.
3. Phantom 3 Quadcopter Drone, $499. This is one that I would personally love because I mean who wouldn't want a drone. Whether it's just to fly around the place or make videos it is a very cool gift.
4. Wake Up Light Alarm Clock, $59.99. This is great for the practical person and also for that person that has it all.

Gift Guide: Beauty & Fragrance // December 2016 | Blogmas Day 8

The thing I struggle most with at this time of the year is buying gifts for people, while I love buying the gifts and watching the look on their faces when they open them, it doesn't make the whole looking for and buying gifts any easier. I always struggle to find the perfect gift. This is the first gift guide in a series of Christmas gift guides.

1.  Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb Eau de Parf Gift Set, $196. I think perfume is the perfect gift, it's such a luxurious and intimate gift. I think this one would be perfect for a young adult or teenager. Although if you are giving to someone slightly older that doesn't have a signature perfume, I suggest getting miniatures set from a brand where you get 3-5 miniature perfumes as they can choose the one they prefer and go out and purchase that one.

2. The Aromatherapy Co. Therapy Coffee Balm & Scrub Gift Set, $44.99.  I think this is the perfect gift for all the mums out there. Often our mums don't get to spend time for themselves to relax and unwind thus this the perfect gift not only for this time of the year but all year round.

3. Lancome Absolu Voyage Make Up Palette, $149. I am personally obsessed with this palette and would be 100%content if I happen to get this for Christmas. This palette is perfect because if you travel a lot on overnight trips it doesn't take up much room. At the moment I will admit I travel with three makeup bags (give me a chance to defend myself) I have one for all the boring stuff like toothbrush, toothpaste and all that, my second makeup bag has by travel hair dryer, dry shampoo, basically just my hair stuff and the third makeup bag has all of my make up in and on occasion I have been known to turn this one bag of makeup into two, which I know is ridiculous. If you're like me or know somebody that is like me that goes away on short trips all the time then this is the perfect gift, I've convinced myself to buy this palette by writing this and have just added it to my cart, oops.

4. Real Techniques Core Collection Set, $25.  If you read my makeup I am currently loving post which you can check out here, you will know exactly why I think this is the perfect gift. It is also more affordable than the other options as well as a must have in every beauty lovers makeup bag.

5. ElizabethArden Eight Hour Cream Gift Set, . Anybody who knows me knows how obsessed I am with the Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream. This would be perfect for anybody who loves Elizabeth Arden or loves skincare. Another gift that I would love for myself.

6. Tru Spa Men's Bathing Essentials Gift Set, $16.99. Just as women deserve to be pampered so do men. This is the perfect male pamper set for any guy who loves a bath. This set comes with a 2 in 1 Shampoo and Conditioner, body wash and an aftershave face balm. This is also extremely affordable gift which I always love.

7 & 8. Calvin Klein Mens Mini Gift Set, $69 & Versace Deluxe Mini Collection Men Gift Set, $75. I put these two together because I feel like they have the same idea but are just different brand. Same deal as what I said for the ladies. This is a great gift if you know they like the brand but they don't have a signature cologne. I love these two brands and these scents. If I was a guy I would definitely love either of these sets.

9. Clarins Men Hydration & Cleansing Set, $100. This is another gift that if I was a guy I would absolutely love. This is the perfect gift for any guy who loves skincare. This is definitely the definition of the perfect gift set.

10. Natio Cruise Set for Men, $29. This is a more affordable still amazing male skincare set, also a perfect gift for any man who loves skincare although this is a more afforable option rather than the Clarins alternative.

Where is Day 7? // December 2016 | Blogmas Day 7

I have realised that I haven't posted for day 7 and I was going to write a post and pop it up or change posts around that I have already written for yesterday but I decided I'm not going to (well sort of because this post is going up). Hear me out before you lecture me. December is busy,  that is without the whole blogging everyday until Christmas day. It gets hard and sometimes life gets in the way. I had some bad news last week and my depression is back (I know I jinxed it okay) and the result of that is I simply haven't had time and quite frankly couldn't be bothered blogging. I love blogging it's where I can express my creativity, but sometimes I get unorganised, or depressed or just lazy and it doesn't happen.

Depression is a B*tch and I've definitely gotten through it before and I will this time. I have to remember that routine is important (which I haven't been sticking too) as is keeping organised and exercise. I have added exercise into my routine (ye the one I haven't been sticking too) and have been for a walk every second or day or so and I want to do pilates the days I don't which I will work towards. Good thing take time though and I am going to create a healthy work life balance because I am incredibly amazing at having one and not the other. I have already posted my blog post for today and the little Gift guide series that I am doing which I am extremely excited for.

I have one request for this blog post. Go and tell somebody you love that you love them and if you want to call someone and talk to them go and do it because you never know how long somebody has left and you could make there day!

Christmas Tag // December 2016 | Blogmas Day 6

I love Christmas with traditions, memories and so much more! I thought today I would share with you some of my favourite Christmassy things with you and I thought what better way than the Christmas tag.

What is your favourite Christmas Movie/s? This is a long answer, so long that I have actually made another blog post on, you can check that out by clicking here.

Do you open your presents on Christmas Eve or Christmas morning? Usually, it is sometime on Christmas Day. When my sister and I were younger we were allowed to open one present in the morning while we waited for our Dad to get home from milking the cows, then once he got home we were allowed to open our Santa presents. All the other gifts we waited till later in the day until the rest of the family had arrived. As We got older I would help my Dad milk the cows because that would mean We would get to open our presents sooner.

Do you have a favourite Christmas memory? My favourite Christmas memory is when the whole family would spend Christmas with my grandparents when the owned a camping ground up north by the beach.

Favourite festive food? Anything with cinnamon, nutmeg, and Christmas spices.

Favourite Christmas gift? Anything that has had love, time and thought put into it.

Favourite Christmas scent? Mixed spice.

Do you have any Christmas Eve traditions? Christmas movie, hot chocolate and an early night.

What tops your tree? A Christmas Angel

As a kid what was the one (crazy, wild, extravagant) gift you always asked for but never received? I don’t think there was everything, I would love to say a pony or some extravagant animal but I honestly do not know.

What's the best part about Christmas for you? Spending time with friends and family, I do not think there is anything better than spending time with the people you love.

Have you done this tag? What's your favourite thing about Christmas?
